Amy Nelson, Wedding Manager
With Tyn Dwr Hall since 2020
How did you find your way into the wedding world?
I started on the food and beverage team, serving guests at weddings and events. I always enjoyed the atmosphere and loved being part of those special days. When the opportunity came up to train as a Wedding Manager in September 2024, I knew it was the right move. University didn’t feel like the right path for me at the time — I wanted to get stuck in and grow through experience, and I’ve never looked back.
What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days are the same — that’s what I love. On wedding days, I’m with the couple from the moment they arrive until after their first dance, making sure everything we planned together comes to life perfectly. On office days, I’m in planning mode: chatting to couples, checking in on timelines and helping them stay on top of the next steps.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
Definitely seeing the day unfold for the couple — watching their ideas and dreams turn into real moments. Being part of such a huge milestone in their lives is something I never take for granted.
Any moments that stand out?
There are too many to count, but one moment I always find emotional is when the bride walks down the staircase on the way to the ceremony. It’s a quiet, powerful pause before everything begins.
What makes Tyn Dwr Hall so special?
Everything. The exclusivity, the breathtaking surroundings, the care we all put into every single day. I honestly believe there’s nowhere quite like it.
How do you help create that ‘Tyn Dwr magic’?
I try to keep everything calm and joyful — helping couples take it all in without feeling overwhelmed. Whether it’s fluffing the dress, finding a guest, or simply being in the right place at the right time, I’m there to support them so they can be fully present and enjoy every second.
Do you have a favourite spot in the venue?
The grounds — one million percent. There’s something different to notice in every season, and they make the perfect backdrop for the day. But I also love the fireplace in the Ballroom. The engraving, “I will walk down many paths on this journey with you”, always feels so meaningful.
How would you describe the atmosphere on a wedding day?
Fun. Emotional. Magical. There’s an energy in the air that never gets old.
What’s it like working with the Tyn Dwr Hall team?
We’re one big team — genuinely. Everyone is so kind, supportive, and happy to help, no matter what department they’re from. That makes all the difference.
How do you make sure each wedding reflects the couple’s vision?
It starts with really listening. Every meeting we have is a chance to get to know their style, their priorities, and what matters most to them. By the time the big day arrives, I know exactly what needs to happen — and I make sure it does.
And finally, any words of advice for couples planning their wedding with us?
You’re about to start the most exciting journey — enjoy every step of it. We’re here for you every part of the way.
