We met at a party in sixth form in 2014! We finally got together on New Year’s Eve 2014 and haven’t looked back since! Almost been together for 10 years. We got engaged on holiday 2 years ago in June 2022 in the Dominican Republic. We got engaged on the beach whilst having a private dinner. Alys asked Sion “you sure?!” when he got down on one knee haha!! It was so romantic and exciting facetiming our families to share our news! (Even if we did wake them up with the time difference…).
The best part of planning our wedding was… the MANY (as you all know…) attended Tyn Dwr open days, which was a family occasion, and we loved every minute of getting to know all of the staff. The menu tasting day was also such a highlight for us and something we will always remember. We also loved all of our wedding meetings, and that there was regular contact/communication throughout our planning process from when we booked until after the wedding. We have felt so looked after by everyone.

<h3>Thursday 18th May</h3>
We met doing weekend work together at a bar when we were in our early 20s, we got engaged 4 years later – just before the pandemic hit! So we had a longer engagement than some, but this allowed us to really think about what we wanted from our day and I’m actually quite grateful for those years, to not have the pressure of trying to book something immediately. When we started planning post-pandemic it felt like the perfect time to do it for us, we shortlisted some venues, but only visited one (Tyn Dwr!) and booked it on the same day before leaving, when you know you know!

Penelope and Rob Pilkington - Tyn Dwr Hall

We met in a pub in Mold in September 2018, Jack was out with the rugby boys and I was out with some colleagues. We got chatting by the bar and Jack insisted he needed my number, I didn’t think anything of it until I got a text 2 days later inviting me on a date. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
We got engaged in the Amalfi coast, we managed to get a last minute trip after the first lock down was lifted. He took me to a rooftop bar and I was asking him to take my photo with Positano as the back drop, he kept saying not yet so by the time he agreed it was dark (and I was secretly fuming that I missed my photo opp). We walked over to the side where the view was and as I turned around Jack was on one knee.
My favourite part of planning was seeing the vision I had of how I wanted to get married come to life. It really was the most amazing process making it all happen, I wasn’t stressed with the planning at all. Maybe a little stressed towards the end as I realised, I was no longer in control and had to just trust our suppliers and venue. Everything went so smooth and perfectly to plan though.
We didn’t know at the time, but we had an extra guest at our wedding, we found out on day 2 of our honeymoon that we are expecting a baby in early April.

Claire and Jack Davies - Tyn Dwr Hall

Katie and Aaron met in a bar in Shrewsbury where Katie lived. Aaron was staying over to attend a racing Motocross event locally the day after and they have been together nearly eight years since.
The couple got engaged on a skiing holiday in the French Alps in Jan 2017 (although Katie had almost given up that he may propose by then)!
Katie, who loves organising events, enjoyed every aspect of planning their wedding and Aaron was happy to leave Katie to make all the important decisions! The only two things he insisted on were: speeches before food and a round head table.
Their wedding took place at Tyn Dwr Hall in September 2018.

Bethan and Jak were both part of the Gaming Society during their university days at <a href="https://www.bangor.ac.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bangor University</a>. Acquitances at first, they got chatting at a social a year later and the relationship quickly blossomed from there. The couple have recently celebrated five happy years together.
Jak proposed at the Abode in Chester, having booked a special weekend treat; cocktails, followed by dinner and a romantic proposal in the room, with flower petals and Prosecco.
The couple’s favourite part of wedding planning was meeting their wonderful suppliers before the big day, which only added to the excitement!
Bethan and Jak’s first child is due in June 2021 and they’re looking forward to bringing their little one to Tyn Dwr Hall to show him/her the place where many special memories were made.

Sian and Andrew met in Aberystwyth where they both attended Aberystwyth University. They were together six years when they got married at Tyn Dwr Hall, describing the day as absolutely perfect. Andrew proposed at home and then they enjoyed a beautiful lunch (and lots of champagne!) at their favourite restaurant. Sian’s parents surprised the couple by joining them after lunch.
The couple decided Tyn Dwr Hall was the venue for them as soon as they visited, describing it as ‘the most perfect venue we had both ever seen!’ The pair enjoyed visiting in the run up to the wedding and meeting with Wedding Manager Becky, to discuss the preparations for the big day.

Sophia and Phil met eight years ago online. Phil proposed at Sophia’s mum’s house in Llangollen. He arranged a local musician to be present and got down on one knee to propose. How romantic!
For Sophia and Phil, the best part of their wedding planning was bringing their vision of the big day to life. Sophia prides herself on being extremely organised and enjoyed every minute of planning the wedding with her wedding planner John Alexander.
Their wedding took place at Tyn Dwr Hall in August 2019.

Dan and Gemma met on Tinder six and a half years ago and if it wasn&#8217;t for Dan reinstalling the app, he might not have seen Gemma&#8217;s message, bravely sent after they were matched!
Engaged at Lake Vyrnwy in 2016 after skimming stones at the lake, Gemma turned around to find Dan on one knee. They booked a visit to Tyn Dwr Hall the following day as they knew it was the venue they wanted to get married in.
Gemma enjoyed using her wedding planner to include all the magazine and online snippets in one place, and piecing everything together!

Gemma and Daniel Copnell - Tyn Dwr Hall

Gemma and Daniel Copnell

Shannen and Daniel met at school at the age of 12. They started dating at the age of 16 and have been together ever since. Together 12 years this summer, they have been married for three.
They got engaged in Venice on their seven-year anniversary, Dan organised a private speed boat which took the couple on a tour of the grand canal and they stopped for lunch at The Gritti Palace, it was an unforgettable experience for the pair.
Their wedding took place at Tyn Dwr Hall in July 2018.
