Bethan and Jak were both part of the Gaming Society during their university days at Bangor University. Acquitances at first, they got chatting at a social a year later and the relationship quickly blossomed from there. The couple have recently celebrated five happy years together.
Jak proposed at the Abode in Chester, having booked a special weekend treat; cocktails, followed by dinner and a romantic proposal in the room, with flower petals and Prosecco.
The couple’s favourite part of wedding planning was meeting their wonderful suppliers before the big day, which only added to the excitement!
Bethan and Jak’s first child is due in June 2021 and they’re looking forward to bringing their little one to Tyn Dwr Hall to show him/her the place where many special memories were made.
We came across Tyn Dwr Hall’s website when searching for wedding venues in North Wales on Google. We fell in love as soon as we saw the pictures and booked to attend the open weekend to celebrate the new renovations.
We had already seen a few wedding venues and were trying to decide between two we had liked, but as soon as we had taken the tour around Tyn Dwr Hall, we sat on the patio and laughed as we immediately agreed it had knocked all the other venues out the park. Everything about it was perfect and exactly what we were looking for.
Secluded, charming and elegant.
We had a civil ceremony outside.
Poppy was our wedding manager. She was absolutely amazing! She was so helpful and we really enjoyed our planning meetings with her.
Being able to visit the hall on special events and open weekends really helped us picture our special day.
We booked Tyn Dwr two years in advance. Then we slowly started to book our suppliers which we recommend doing in advance as soon as you find ones you like as they get booked up fast!
We tried to stick to natural and elegant themes with plenty of florals and pastels to match with the beautiful scenery.
There are so many! Our favourite pictures are the ones surrounded by the beautiful gardens.
Saying our vows in front of all our family and friends.
We had the Perl Wen souffle for starters. Lemon and Basil Chicken for main and the Lemon Posset for dessert. Our favourite food to eat at the end of a night out is kebabs, so we had to go for the Greek Souvlaki for the evening food! Which went down a treat with all our guests.
We opted for a harpist for our ceremony and welcome drinks, which was perfect for our outdoor ceremony. We then had a fabulous acoustic musician entertaining our guests on the patio after eating and kept the evening simple with an awesome DJ.
We had lots of fun adding our own little touches ourselves. We had small bottles of whiskey for the men with personalised labels and little jars of local honey decorated with hessian and honey dipping sticks for the ladies. We also had goodie bags for the children full of things to keep them entertained. We also had baskets in the toilets full of little toiletries for our guests to use during the day and a big basket of flips flops for the women to swap for their heels.
We booked the amazing Cheese Wedding Cake! It was a lovely addition of the evening food.
The entire Tyn Dwr team is magnificent! We didn’t have to worry about a single thing on the day as everything was taken care of for us and we were very well looked after.
Seeing all of our family and friends laughing and crying together as one big family was a very special moment.
The open space to accommodate all our guests was a winner. Especially the huge variety in accommodation for our friends and family that travelled far.
When one of the groomsmen drop kicked another groomsmen during our groups pictures.
Both of our big brothers who were still drinking and chatting when everyone had gone to bed.
The biggest tip we strongly suggest is to spend lots of time with your friends in the last few months. Whenever we had the groomsmen or bridal party meet up for fittings, we would make a day of it with a BBQ and drinks. Our friends helped us relax and enjoy ourselves, so we were able to look forward to the day rather than stressing about all the little tit-bits.
