We met at a party in sixth form in 2014! We finally got together on New Year’s Eve 2014 and haven’t looked back since! Almost been together for 10 years. We got engaged on holiday 2 years ago in June 2022 in the Dominican Republic. We got engaged on the beach whilst having a private dinner. Alys asked Sion “you sure?!” when he got down on one knee haha!! It was so romantic and exciting facetiming our families to share our news! (Even if we did wake them up with the time difference…).
The best part of planning our wedding was… the MANY (as you all know…) attended Tyn Dwr open days, which was a family occasion, and we loved every minute of getting to know all of the staff. The menu tasting day was also such a highlight for us and something we will always remember. We also loved all of our wedding meetings, and that there was regular contact/communication throughout our planning process from when we booked until after the wedding. We have felt so looked after by everyone.
Alys’ Mum and Dad attended an evening reception a few years back and said how nice it was. We also saw all of the Instagram/Facebook posts and wanted to come to the open days once we got engaged as it looked amazing! We also felt passionate about getting married in Wales and we thought it was definitely the best venue in the area.
A perfect mix of modern and historic character. The grounds and the drive when you arrive are breathtaking. We also loved how organised the open day was, and how each and every staff member couldn’t have been more warm/friendly. We had a lovely experience from day dot and it felt like ‘home’ in a wedding venue!
Breathtaking, perfect and organised.
Lissy was incredible. We had such fun in our wedding planning meetings and she was always so knowledgeable, calm and organised. We didn’t feel stressed at any point in the lead up as she thought of everything and reassured us throughout the process. It really was a game changer having a wedding manager and this made our whole Tyn Dwr experience perfect. On the day, Lissy was there like a fairy godmother, popping up whenever we needed her!!! It meant we were able to enjoy our special day to the fullest without any stress or worry if everything was ok. It meant everything ran so smoothly, and for that, we can’t thank her enough. Thank you again Lissy! Missing our meetings already!
Having Lissy as our wedding manager! We also loved seeing all the staff, and Tracy, at the open days as everyone was so welcoming to us and our families. We enjoyed the menu tasting day and trying lots of dishes. We also valued the supplier fayres as we were able to chat to different people, including suppliers we had booked e.g., Mathew Lloyd. Building relationships with all of the staff during these events and our meetings led to the best day with our friends, family and all of you at Tyn Dwr. We genuinely felt everyone at Tyn Dwr was as excited as us, and this was something our guests picked up on too that the staff were faultless.
Confetti shots outside the manor house. The driveway for photos and videos – we had such fun here! The swing near the cottage, the loop around the grounds and the stairs before walking down the aisle. We also had so many lovely photos in the garden room too to cut our cake! There are so many photo ops.
We couldn’t have asked for more. All of our guests complimented the service throughout the day, as every single staff member was so helpful and friendly. Tracy was amazing with organising our walk into the garden room, the confetti shot and the speeches etc. We also can’t thank Lissy enough for being there always at our beckoned call!! She was very good at looking after my bag and phone too hehe!
We had Bethan Griffiths to play the harp when guests arrived, Alys and bridesmaids down the aisle, and the drinks reception. We loved having Bethan and it brought a lovely, calm and emotional atmosphere to the day. Soul revolver were great at night and the dancefloor was booming! We’re very glad we had live entertainment on our day.
Candid photobooth was also brilliant. Guests loved having the printed photos and sent to their emails too – lots of memories to cherish. We also loved they printed a second photo out from each person to give to me and Sion as we have those to keep forever.
We had photos of ourselves as babies around the hall which we felt was special. We also had a memorial table for our loved ones that couldn’t be there.
Each table was named after a place we had visited together.
All the guests loved the scratch cards as favours!
Flip flops at night!
(something we also wanted to mention was that how classy and eloquent it felt when the waiting staff all nodded before putting plates down for food). All guests complimented the food and said how amazing it was, which of course we knew too, but also how there wasn’t a wait for tables to receive food but also that it was presented to everybody so nicely.
It’s a tough one between walking down the aisle and getting married! Also, the time together just before the confetti shot was something we will always remember as husband and wife.
Definitely the flip flops!! These were a game changer! Comfort is key haha. The toiletries baskets in the bathrooms were good too.
We both would say make sure you stick together as you can throughout the day so that you experience the day together. Stay on the dancefloor as that was one of the best bits for us with all our friends and family (it encourages people to stay there too if you’re there!)
Grooms- a change of shirt for the evening, especially if it’s a hot day.
Brides- a lipstick/ligloss handy in your bag. Also, a mini loose powder too for a top up if it’s hot! Handheld fan in your bag!
Pins for the buttonholes as the magnets were not that secure.
