A warm welcome awaits — here’s everything you need to know
If you’ve been invited to a wedding at Tyn Dwr Hall — lucky you! Set in the heart of the North Wales countryside, our exclusive-use venue is a magical place to celebrate love. Here’s what to expect and how to make the most of your visit.
Tyn Dwr Hall is a privately owned, luxury wedding venue tucked just outside the historic town of Llangollen. Surrounded by ancient woodland, flowing water and rolling hills, our lovingly restored hall is home to grand interiors, stylish guest rooms, and award-winning hospitality.
We’re known for hosting personal, detail-rich weddings where everything is thoughtfully planned and beautifully delivered.
Unlike a hotel with other guests coming and going, Tyn Dwr Hall becomes completely yours for the day (and night). That means the only people on site are the couple, their chosen guests, and our dedicated team. Every toast, every dance, every joyful tear — it all belongs to just one love story.
This exclusivity brings a warmth and intimacy that’s hard to describe — but you’ll feel it the moment you arrive.
Arrival times vary depending on your role in the day:
12pm start. The venue is busy in the morning finalising all those beautiful moments, and every single staff member is occupied with the couple and their plans — so we don’t open for guests until 12pm at the earliest. Always refer to your invitation for the official time, but please be aware that if it says 12pm, that’s also when the gates will open.
Getting ready with one of the couple? This is different. If you’ve been invited to use the prep spaces, you’ll get access earlier, providing the couple has notified us of your arrival.
Staying overnight? If you’ve booked accommodation, check-in is typically from 2pm — although you’re welcome to arrive earlier if the couple allows. You’re welcome to enjoy a drink and settle in while the rooms are being finalised. If we’ve had no wedding the day before, it may be possible to check in from 12pm — but please speak to the couple for confirmation.
Want to get ready here? If the ceremony is at 1pm or later and there’s no wedding the day before, you may be able to check in from 12pm. If not, we’d suggest arriving dressed and fresh, then using your room to refresh later on. There are loos on site, but naturally it’s nicer to have space and time to get ready in comfort. If you’re travelling more than an hour, an overnight stay nearby the night before might be worth considering.
Ceremony guest only? You’ll find the start time on your invitation — doors usually open between 12–1pm for a warm welcome and a pre-ceremony wander.
Evening guest? Evening arrivals are typically from 7pm, but again check your invitation — you’ll be welcomed in through the Entrance Hall and guided straight to the heart of the celebration.
If you’re unsure, don’t worry — we’ll be ready to greet you, and there’ll be signage and smiling faces to help you along the way.
Tyn Dwr Hall is a blend of historic charm and modern luxury. Here’s just a little of what you’ll find:
A welcoming Entrance Hall with a crackling fire, cosy seating, and a nearby bar if you fancy a quick drink
The beautiful Ballroom for ceremonies, speeches and dancing later on
Character-filled Dining Room and Drawing Room — perfect for mingling and a relaxed breakfast or morning coffee
Two bars, open throughout the day and evening (cash and card both welcome)
We are a nut-free venue, so if you or someone in your party has a nut allergy — don’t worry, we’ve got you covered
The venue is flat and accessible throughout the main spaces. We have a mobility lift for the few stairs into the Ballroom, plus disabled loos and baby changing facilities. There are also several ground-floor rooms in the Coach House, accessible parking and EV charging points
Stunning grounds and gardens, complete with woodland walks, a stream, a tree swing… and often, baby ducklings!
Firepits, fairy lights and photo-worthy corners throughout
And of course, attentive staff ready to help — if you need us, just ask
If you’re staying the night, we offer a range of guest accommodation across the Hall, the Coach House, our 17th-century Yew Tree Cottage, and woodland Yurts.
The couple may choose your room for you — if that’s the case, when they send out the accommodation link, your name will appear next to your assigned room. If not, here’s a quick and easy guide to help you decide:
The Hall
Our 19th-century Hall is traditional, grand, and full of character. With thick walls, warm rooms and original features throughout, no two rooms are the same — but all are inviting and comfortable.
Why choose the Hall? You’re in the heart of the venue — and let’s be honest, it’s easy to crawl to once the drinks settle in.
The Coach House
Once home to stables and carriages, this beautiful building has been carefully restored. Think beams, original windows, and peaceful rooms that balance charm with modern touches. With four ground-floor rooms and two suites, it’s just next to the Hall and easy to access, with parking right outside.
Why choose the Coach House? It’s a little more tucked away, so ideal if you like your own space — and waking up to the herb garden view is pretty lovely too.
The Yew Tree Cottage
Older than the Hall itself, this 16th-century gem was once the groundskeeper’s home. With a living room, kitchen and three bedrooms, it’s great for families or groups of friends. Rustic, cosy, and full of character.
Why book the Cottage? Nestled next to one of the oldest Yew Trees in Wales and the gentle stream, it’s full-on countryside tranquillity — and yes, you can make toast at midnight.
The Glamping Village (Yurts)
Set just beyond the Hall, our woodland yurts are a magical hideaway. Each has its own power supply, real beds, heating, and access to a modern shower and loo block. Tucked among the trees, it feels like your own private nature escape.
Why book a Yurt? They’re quirky, cosy, and very Instagrammable — and let’s face it, you deserve a little woodland adventure.
Dress code: Typically smart or formal, but always check the invite. And since we’re in the countryside, a spare pair of flats or boots for a garden stroll is never a bad idea.
Gifts & cards: There’s usually a dedicated space for these, including a vintage suitcase and secure post box.
Children: Some weddings are child-free, others have little ones playing a starring role. If you’re bringing children, we’ve got high chairs, kid-friendly snacks, and plenty of space to explore.
Taxis & travel: If you’re not staying over, pre-book your return transport in advance — we’re a little tucked away, which is part of the charm!
Weddings at Tyn Dwr Hall are warm, joyful, and full of heart. From the first welcome drink to the final song on the dance floor, the day is lovingly curated by the couple and our team to make sure it’s memorable for everyone.
We can’t wait to welcome you. x
