Our guide to feeding your guests, fuelling the fun, and getting it right
When it comes to planning your wedding day, food might not be the first thing you think about — but trust us, it’s one of the most important.
At Tyn Dwr Hall, we include everything you need when it comes to your food and drink. From your first canapés to your last late-night nibble, we’ve got it covered — beautifully.
But it’s not just about what’s on the plate. It’s about how food fits into the flow of your day, how it affects your guests’ experience, and how it creates moments to rest, reset and refuel.
Let’s think about your guests for a second…
They probably had a light breakfast at home or in a hotel.
They’ve travelled to your venue, settled in, and watched you say “I do” (which usually happens around lunchtime).
By the time the canapés appear, they’re ready for them.
And by 4pm, when they sit down to eat properly? They’re starving.
That’s why we offer a three-course meal. Not because it’s formal or fancy (though it certainly can be) — but because it gives your guests time to sit down, relax, and recharge.
We serve generous portions, made from scratch using local suppliers from our kitchen and chefs, in a way that feels luxurious and comforting — like a proper meal with people you love.
A good sit-down meal isn’t just about food. It’s about:
Afterwards, they’ll be ready for your speeches, the cake cutting, and of course, the dancing. Just in time, we’ll fire up our evening street food stalls to keep them going into the night.
Here’s our no-nonsense guide to making the most of your menu:
1. Choose What You Want
Don’t fall into the trap of picking the ‘safest’ option. This is your wedding. Love steak? Pick steak. Always wanted duck or risotto or mushroom wellington? Go for it.
(P.S. Our chicken dishes are incredible, but they’re not your only option.)
2. Don’t Worry About Dietary Requirements
We’ve got them covered.
We’re already a nut-free kitchen, and we cater for all dietary needs with care, flavour, and attention to detail. No sad side salads. No “oops, we forgot”. Just brilliant food, made for everyone.
3. Skip the Choice Menus
Offering two or three mains sounds lovely — until you see the extra cost.
Why? Because more choices mean more chefs and more prep, which can slow down your service. Our advice? Choose a great dish you love, and serve it to everyone. Your guests will love it because you do.
4. Do Your Speeches After the Meal
We know speeches can be nerve-wracking. But guests are hungry — and sitting through 45 minutes of toasts before food can be tough.
Feed them first. Then raise your glasses.
5. Bring a Cake
You don’t need a six-tier masterpiece (though we love those too). Some couples bring Colin the Caterpillar. Others bring a homemade bake by Grandma. Either way, it’s a great photo moment and a tasty late-night bite.
6. Add Fun Extras (If You Want To)
Sweet carts, donut walls, grazing boards — go for it. We just ask that:
Some things you might not know about how we work:
All food is cooked from scratch in our kitchen by our full-time chef and team.
Canapés are served roving-style, with four per person. We circulate to make sure everyone gets their fair share (and yes — we make sure you get some too).
The meal starts with warm, handmade bread rolls and salted Welsh butter. Just wait…
We memorise your guest list, including allergens and meal choices, so we can serve quickly, professionally and with a real “wow” factor.
We suggest our children’s menu for little ones aged 2–15, with smaller portions of the same great food.
However, if a teenager prefers an adult meal (and can polish one off), just let us know. They’ll be charged the adult rate, their wine allowance will be served to others at the table, and we’ll serve them soft drinks throughout the day.
Think about it this way: if your guests were coming to your house from noon ‘til midnight, you’d feed them, hydrate them, and keep them comfortable.
Weddings are no different. It’s a long day — and food is what gets everyone through the dips, fuels the highs, and brings people together.
We provide everything you need. Because we know food isn’t just important — it’s crucial to the kind of day you’ll never forget.
