At Tyn Dwr Hall, couples have the option to hold their ceremony outside by our Summer House, surrounded by the gardens and the natural beauty of the landscape.

However, planning an outdoor ceremony does come with a few important things to consider. Here are some of the key details couples often ask about when they’re thinking about saying “I do” outdoors.

The weather decision is made on the morning

If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony in the UK, flexibility is key.

Weather forecasts can change quickly, and we always want couples and their guests to be comfortable. Because of this, the final decision about whether the ceremony takes place outside or inside is usually made on the morning of the wedding day.

Our team will look carefully at the conditions and work with you to decide what will work best. The Ballroom is always available as a beautiful backup option, ensuring the day flows smoothly whatever the weather decides to do.

It means couples can dream of an outdoor ceremony without worrying about a last-minute scramble if the forecast changes.

The Summer House: naturally beautiful

The Summer House provides a lovely focal point for outdoor ceremonies and sits perfectly within the garden setting.

Some couples choose to add flowers, draping or other decorations to personalise the space, while others prefer to keep it simple and allow the surrounding greenery and landscape to speak for itself.

The truth is, the backdrop is already incredibly beautiful, so decorating is completely optional. Sometimes the most elegant choice is simply letting nature do the work.

Music for your ceremony

Music plays a huge role in setting the tone for the ceremony, and outdoor ceremonies offer plenty of flexibility.

Couples may choose to have live musicians, such as a harpist, guitarist or singer performing beside the ceremony area, creating a wonderfully atmospheric moment as guests arrive and during the aisle walk.

Alternatively, our team can provide a speaker system for recorded music if couples prefer to choose their own playlist.

Both options work beautifully and allow couples to create a ceremony that feels personal to them.

Your walk to the ceremony

One of the lovely things about outdoor ceremonies at Tyn Dwr Hall is that the traditional aisle walk remains just as special.

Many couples follow the same route as an indoor ceremony — walking down the corridor, through the Ballroom and out onto the terrace before descending the steps into the gardens.

However, there’s plenty of flexibility if couples would prefer something different.

Some choose to enter through the front of the Hall or approach from a different part of the garden. Same-sex couples sometimes enjoy approaching from different directions, meeting at the ceremony space together.

It can create a really beautiful moment.

The only thing we gently recommend thinking about is footwear, particularly if walking across grass or gravel.

Thinking about guest comfort

While outdoor ceremonies are beautiful, it’s important to think about how the weather will affect your guests.

If it’s too cold, guests may need coats or blankets, which can make it harder for everyone to fully relax and enjoy the moment. If it’s very hot, guests may find themselves sitting in direct sunlight for longer than expected.
